A GoFundMe page has been started for the family of innocent lives lost during a mass homicide in Barrhaven Wednesday.

Four children between the ages of two months and seven-years-old were brutally murdered, alongside their mother and an acquaintance to the family. All Sri Lankan nationals, they were killed with a knife-like object, said Ottawa Police.

The father survived and is in hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to make a full physical recovery.

Nineteen-year-old Febrio De-Zoysa has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in relation to the Berrigan Drive homicides. The Algonquin College international student dropout is believed to be the only suspect and lived in the family’s basement for the past month or two.

The GoFundMe page set by the Buddhist Congress of Canada located on Heron Road, has a goal of raising $200,000. As of Friday afternoon, more than $50k was donated.

“Once the autopsies are done, and bodies are released, we will be undertaking the funerals,” the GoFundMe page read.

The six murdered were newcomers to Canada, arriving just a year ago from Sri Lanka. The youngest daughter was born here. The surviving father, Dhanushka Wickramasinghe, came first and is an Uber driver. He also ran a cleaning company.

Part of Wickramasinghe’s finger was cut off and another had to be repaired during surgery. He also experienced stab wounds to other parts of his body.
