The Barrhaven Salvation Army Church will be holding an open house and ribbon cutting Sat., April 13 at their new facility.

The community is invited to tour the new building and learn about all it has to offer. Their new church building is located in east Barrhaven at 102 Bill Leathem Drive.

As part of the grand opening weekend, Sunday worship will take place April 13 at 10:30 a.m.

The Salvation Army Church in Ottawa was originally located on Wellington Street and was officially opened in 1915. The church bought a building on Parkdale Avenue and was located there from 1952 to 1969. After that, it moved to Woodroffe Avenue at Carling Ave., where it stayed for 40 years.

In 2009, the church moved to Barrhaven to be a part of the dynamic and growing community. They offered community assistance and programming out of their ministry centre at 2201 Jockvale Road. Before the new building was built, their worship services were held at St. Andrew Catholic School.

The planning and construction stages of the project took longer than expected, but the Barrhaven Church has been a faithful part of the community for many years. The new building was completed in the winter of 2024.
